Description: The movie *Horns* (2013) tells the story of Ignatius “Ig” Perrish, who becomes the main suspect in the brutal rape and murder of his girlfriend, Merrin Williams. Despite his claims of innocence, the community turns against him. Seeking refuge from the press, Ig hides with his parents and brother, Terry. After a vigil led by Merrin’s father, who believes Ig is guilty, Ig gets intoxicated, vandalizes Merrin’s memorial, and wakes up with mysterious horns growing from his head. These horns grant him the power to compel people to reveal their deepest secrets and darkest desires, often causing them to act on those impulses.
While consulting a doctor about removing the horns, Ig recalls his childhood, when he first met Merrin. Their bond began after an incident involving a cherry bomb, where Ig risked his life and was saved by his childhood friend, Lee Tourneau. Ig later fixed Merrin’s broken necklace, sparking their love.
Under the influence of the horns, Ig’s mother confesses she no longer wants him as her son, while his father claims Ig is worthless without Merrin. With the help of a friend, Ig destroys the lab conducting DNA tests related to Merrin’s case. Later, at a bar, he provokes a fight with reporters and uncovers disturbing secrets from the patrons, including the bartender, who sets the establishment on fire for insurance money.
Through these revelations, Ig discovers a waitress who fabricated her testimony for fame. He also learns from Terry, his brother, that Terry was the one who drove Merrin home on the night of her death. The story explores Ig’s journey to uncover the truth behind Merrin’s murder and the chaos unleashed by his newfound powers.
