Description: In 1985, Connor MacLeod faces an old adversary, Iman Fasil, in the parking garage of Madison Square Garden. After a sword fight, MacLeod defeats Fasil by beheading him, which causes a massive energy surge known as a Quickening, damaging nearby cars. Connor hides his katana in the garage ceiling but is later detained by NYPD officers for murder. Due to insufficient evidence, he is released.
The story delves into Connor’s past through flashbacks. In 1536, during the Scottish Highlands’ Clan Wars, Connor is wounded by the Kurgan, a mysterious warrior aiding the Fraser Clan. Despite being fatally injured, Connor miraculously recovers, leading his lover Kate and cousin Dougal to accuse him of witchcraft. Banished by his clan, he becomes a blacksmith and marries Heather MacDonald.
Later, Connor encounters Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez, an immortal swordsman from Egypt, who explains their shared destiny as immortals. Born to fight one another, they must avoid conflict on holy ground. The ultimate goal is the Gathering, where the last remaining immortal wins the Prize—a power that could save or doom humanity. Ramírez mentors Connor, and they form a strong bond. However, the Kurgan eventually finds them, kills Ramírez, and assaults Heather.
The Highlander (1986) explores themes of immortality, destiny, and the eternal battle between good and evil.
