StoryLine:
A group of criminals sentenced to death is sent on a space mission to harness alternative energy from a black hole. The prisoners are subjected to experiments by Dr. Dibs, played by Juliette Binoche, who is determined to conceive a child through artificial insemination but has faced repeated failures. Sexual activity among the prisoners is strictly forbidden. The ship features a device called “The Box,” which the crew uses compulsively for masturbation. Dr. Dibs, who had previously killed her own children and husband before attempting suicide, becomes fixated on Monte, played by Robert Pattinson, the only celibate prisoner who resists her advances. Monte is serving a life sentence for murdering a friend who had killed his dog in his youth. His sole companion on the ship is Tcherny, portrayed by André Benjamin, who finds solace in the onboard garden, reminiscent of Earth.
During the mission, a pregnant prisoner named Elektra gives birth, but both the baby and Elektra eventually die. The ship’s captain, Chandra, develops leukemia due to radiation exposure and suffers a stroke before being euthanized by Dr. Dibs. Tensions escalate when a male prisoner, Ettore, attacks a female prisoner named Boyse and her roommate Mink. The pilot, Nansen, intervenes but is overpowered by Ettore. Monte steps in, rescues Boyse, and brutally beats Ettore. Later, Mink kills Ettore in retaliation. Dr. Dibs increases the sedatives given to the prisoners and, while Monte is sedated, rapes him and impregnates Boyse with his sperm. Boyse gives birth to a healthy child, which Dr. Dibs becomes obsessed with, though Monte remains unaware of his fatherhood.
As the ship nears the black hole, Nansen prepares to pilot a shuttle around it. However, Boyse secretly murders Nansen and takes her place. The shuttle enters a molecular cloud, altering its trajectory and causing it to plunge into the black hole, where Boyse meets a violent end due to spaghettification.
