Description: Rob Gordon, a music enthusiast with a knack for misunderstanding women, finds himself grappling with the aftermath of his breakup with his longtime girlfriend, Laura. Determined to figure out where he went wrong, Rob decides to reconnect with his past lovers to gain insight into his failed relationships. During the day, he manages his record store, Championship Vinyl, alongside his employees Dick and Barry. The trio, armed with an extensive knowledge of music, create “Top 5” lists for every imaginable scenario, mock their customers’ tastes, and occasionally sell a few records.
Rob’s mundane routine is interrupted when he stumbles upon a recording by two skateboarding teenagers, Vince and Justin, who call themselves The Kinky Wizards. Impressed, Rob offers them a record deal under his label, Top 5 Records. Meanwhile, he struggles to move on from Laura, attempting to win her back.
After attending the funeral of Laura’s father, Rob begins to reflect on his own commitment issues, realizing he has always held back in their relationship. This epiphany leads them to reconcile and start living together again. However, Rob’s interest in a music columnist sparks doubts about his ability to stay committed.
Eventually, Rob confesses to Laura that while other women may seem appealing, she is his reality, and he never grows tired of her. He proposes marriage, and she appreciates the gesture. Laura encourages Rob to reconnect with his passion for DJing, and at the release party for Vince and Justin’s single, Rob is pleasantly surprised by the performance of Barry’s band, Sonic Death Monkey. In the end, Rob creates a mixtape for Laura, feeling confident he has finally learned how to truly make her happy.
