Description: Henry’s Crime is a 2010 film that tells the story of Henry, a toll collector in Buffalo, New York, who leads a seemingly aimless life. His wife, Debbie, is unhappy with their situation. One day, Henry is persuaded by his friend Eddie to join a baseball game, but the trip takes an unexpected turn. Eddie and two others in the car rob a bank, leading to Henry’s arrest as an accomplice. Despite knowing the real culprits, Henry chooses not to reveal their names and takes the blame, ending up in prison.
In jail, Henry shares a cell with Max, a man who has grown accustomed to life behind bars. Max inspires Henry with the idea that to find purpose in life, one must first have a dream. While Henry is in prison, Debbie divorces him and marries Joe, one of the actual robbers.
After serving 18 months, Henry is released with a newfound purpose. He decides to commit the crime he was falsely accused of. Discovering an old tunnel connecting the bank to a nearby theater, Henry convinces Max to assist in the heist. To gain access to the tunnel, Max encourages Henry to join a theater production of Anton Chekhov’s “The Cherry Orchard,” where he becomes involved with Julie, the play’s lead actress.
