Set in Kyoto in the year 2027, the Japanese government implements a plan to preserve the city’s natural architecture and culture using drones that capture real-time data. This information is stored in a limitless-capacity machine called Alltale. The story follows Naomi Katagaki, an indecisive high school student with a passion for reading. One day, a mysterious *yatagarasu* steals his library book, and while trying to retrieve it, Naomi encounters a man who appears out of nowhere. This man is revealed to be Naomi from 10 years in the future, now an adult.
The future Naomi explains that he has accessed Alltale from the outside world to alter the recorded past and save Naomi’s classmate, Ruri Ichigyō, who will tragically fall into a coma after being struck by lightning during a fireworks festival. The teenage Naomi agrees to help, referring to his future self as ‘Sensei.’ Sensei grants Naomi a special ability called God’s Hand, which originates from the *yatagarasu* and allows him to create objects as long as their chemical and physical structure is not too complex.
With the help of his own diary, Sensei guides Naomi to gradually win Ruri’s affection, and the two eventually fall in love. On the night of the incident, Naomi avoids inviting Ruri to the festival, staying outside her house as instructed. They soon realize that Sensei’s interference has triggered Alltale’s Homeostatic System, causing bots in the form of *kitsune* men to appear and attempt to correct the data. These bots transport Ruri and Naomi to the site of the accident.
Using his newfound power, Naomi summons a black hole to eliminate the *kitsune* men and the lightning strike that would have injured Ruri, successfully rewriting the data and saving her from the tragedy.”
