Description: In the 2019 film *Happy Death Day 2U*, Ryan, a college student, wakes up in his car on Tuesday, September 19. After returning to his dorm, he finds his roommate Carter and Carter’s girlfriend, Tree. Ryan continues working on an experimental quantum reactor with classmates Samar and Dre. However, the project is shut down by Dean Bronson after it causes power outages. Shortly after, Ryan is killed by a masked figure known as Babyface, but he wakes up again on Tuesday the 19th. Tree shares her own experience of reliving a time loop, and together with Carter, they agree to help Ryan. They discover the reactor created the loop.
When a new Babyface attacks, Tree unmasked the killer, revealing a second Ryan, who claims the original Ryan must die to end the loop. Fearful, Ryan activates the reactor, releasing a powerful energy pulse that knocks everyone unconscious.
Tree then finds herself back in Carter’s room on Monday the 18th, reliving her original time loop. However, she notices differences, such as Carter dating a kinder version of Danielle. Ryan theorizes the reactor caused Tree to drift into an alternate dimension. Learning her mother is alive in this reality, Tree decides to stay.
That night, Tree tries to stop serial killer John Tombs but is confronted by a police officer. Babyface kills the officer, and Tree encounters Lori, realizing she’s not the killer in this timeline. Lori informs Tree that Babyface can’t be Tombs, as she just took him for surgery. Babyface stabs Lori and chases Tree to the roof, where she accidentally falls to her death. Tree restarts her loop and demands Ryan and his team help her escape it, requiring multiple tests. With Carter’s suggestion, Tree records their progress by ending each day with her own death to start over.
