Description: **Happy Death Day (2017)**
**Storyline:**
After a night of heavy drinking, university student Theresa “Tree” Gelbman wakes up in the dorm room of her classmate, Carter Davis, on her birthday. She ignores a call from her father and leaves, returning to her own room. Her sorority housemate, Lori Spengler, offers her a cupcake, but Tree throws it away. Later, Tree meets with her married professor, Gregory Butler, with whom she is having an affair. That evening, while heading to a party, Tree is lured into a tunnel and murdered by a mysterious figure wearing a mask of the school mascot.
To her shock, Tree wakes up again in Carter’s bed, reliving the same day. Confused and disturbed, she tries to avoid the tunnel and attends the party instead. However, the masked killer follows her and murders her once more. Tree wakes up again in Carter’s bed, realizing she is trapped in a time loop. She attempts to barricade herself in her room to escape death, but the killer, already hiding inside, kills her a third time.
Determined to break the cycle, Tree confides in Carter, who suggests using the loop to identify her killer. Over the next several iterations, Tree trails potential suspects but is killed each time. After waking from a loop where she is brutally murdered, Tree faints and awakens in the campus hospital. Her body shows signs of recovery from multiple traumatic injuries, indicating she retains physical damage from her previous deaths. When the killer appears at the hospital, Tree escapes in Gregory’s car, only to be pursued and killed again.
Back in Carter’s bed, Tree convinces him of her situation by predicting the day’s events. She confesses her deep self-loathing, stemming from pushing away her father after her mother’s death three years ago. Tree then sees a news report about John Tombs, a serial killer being held at the campus hospital. Convinced Tombs is her murderer, she rushes to the hospital to warn of his escape.
