Description: Ten years after capturing the notorious serial killer Jame Gumb, FBI Special Agent Clarice Starling faces professional consequences following a failed drug raid. She is approached by Mason Verger, the sole survivor of the cannibalistic serial killer Hannibal Lecter, who has been in hiding since his escape during the Gumb case. Verger, a wealthy individual with a history of child abuse, was left paralyzed and disfigured by Lecter during a therapy session. Determined to seek revenge, Verger devises an elaborate plan to capture, torture, and kill Lecter. Using his wealth and political influence, Verger ensures Starling is reassigned to Lecter’s case, hoping her involvement will lure the elusive killer out of hiding.
After learning of Starling’s demotion, Lecter sends her a mocking letter. A fragrance expert identifies a unique scent on the letter, leading Starling to investigate specific shops worldwide. In Florence, Chief Inspector Rinaldo Pazzi is investigating the disappearance of a library curator and encounters Lecter, who is posing as Dr. Fell, the assistant curator. Recognizing Lecter from surveillance footage, Pazzi discovers Verger’s $3 million bounty on the killer. Ignoring Starling’s warnings, Pazzi attempts to capture Lecter alone, resulting in a fatal confrontation.
Meanwhile, Verger manipulates a Justice Department official to discredit Starling, leading to her suspension. Lecter manages to lure Starling to Union Station, where Verger’s men capture him. Verger plans to execute Lecter by feeding him to a herd of wild boars. With no support from her superiors, Starling takes matters into her own hands and infiltrates Verger’s estate to confront the deadly situation.
