Gumraah, meaning “Astray,” is a 2023 Indian Hindi-language crime thriller directed by Vardhan Ketkar and produced by T-Series Films alongside Murad Khetani’s Cine1 Studios. The film features Aditya Roy Kapur in a dual role, alongside Mrunal Thakur and Ronit Roy. It is a remake of the 2019 Tamil film *Thadam*. The plot centers around a murder investigation that becomes increasingly complex when the police discover two suspects who look exactly alike.
Principal photography for the film began in October 2021 during Dussehra and concluded on July 16, 2022. Released in theaters on April 7, 2023, *Gumraah* unfortunately underperformed at the box office.
The story begins with a brutal murder, leading to the arrest of two identical-looking men. Aditya Roy Kapur plays both suspects in his first double role, keeping the audience and the police guessing about the real killer. Mrunal Thakur portrays Shivani Mathur, a determined police officer, while Ronit Roy plays her superior, ACP Dhiren Yadav. Aditya Roy Kapur delivers a decent performance in both roles, though it doesn’t match the brilliance of his previous works like *Malang* (2020) and *Aashiqui 2* (2013). Mrunal Thakur stands out in her role, and Ronit Roy brings his usual intensity to the screen.
