Description: During the Battle of the Atlantic, convoy HX-25, consisting of 37 Allied ships, is heading to Liverpool. The convoy is escorted by the Fletcher-class destroyer USS Keeling, known as “Greyhound,” under the command of Commander Ernest Krause (Tom Hanks) of the U.S. Navy. It is Krause’s first wartime command despite his extensive naval experience. The escort also includes the British destroyer HMS James (“Harry”), the Polish destroyer ORP Viktor (“Eagle”), and the Canadian corvette HMCS Dodge (“Dicky”).
As the convoy enters the “Black Pit,” a region in the Mid-Atlantic without air cover, German U-boats are detected nearby. Greyhound intercepts a surfaced submarine, but it dives before being sighted. Krause maneuvers his ship above the U-boat and successfully destroys it with depth charges. Shortly after, they receive distress signals from a Greek merchant ship attacked by another U-boat. Greyhound assists, rescuing survivors while evading torpedoes. Upon returning to the convoy, Krause learns that six U-boats are shadowing them, likely waiting for nightfall to strike. The crew prepares for the imminent threat.
Greyhound 2020 is a gripping war drama that highlights the tension and challenges of naval warfare during World War II.
