**Storyline:**
The story begins with Fei Fei, a young girl who hears the legend of the moon goddess, Chang’e. According to the tale, Chang’e consumed an immortality potion and now resides on the moon, waiting for her lover, the archer, accompanied only by the Jade Rabbit. As the annual Moon Festival approaches, Fei Fei and her family prepare mooncakes for the village. Tragically, Fei Fei’s mother falls ill and passes away, leaving her daughter with a bunny named Bungee as a cherished memory.
Four years later, Fei Fei is a bright and scientifically-minded teenager who continues to believe in the legend of Chang’e. She is heartbroken when she discovers her father is dating a new woman, Mrs. Zhong, and becomes particularly annoyed by Mrs. Zhong’s lively son, Chin. Determined to prove the existence of Chang’e, Fei Fei designs a rocket shaped like a Chinese paper lantern in the form of a rabbit, powered by fireworks.
During the launch, Chin secretly boards the rocket, causing it to nearly crash. However, a mystical beam of energy captures the rocket and transports them to the moon. After a rough landing, they are rescued by playful spirits who guide them to the realm of Luminaria. There, they encounter Chang’e, who has taken the form of a pop star, and her backup dancers, the Lunettes.
Meanwhile, back on Earth, Fei Fei’s family celebrates the Moon Festival, but she is further distressed upon learning of her father’s engagement to Mrs. Zhong. Inspired by her memories of her mother and the legend of Chang’e, Fei Fei sings a heartfelt song and resolves to build a rocket to the moon to prove the moon goddess’s existence.
