Description: Good Will Hunting is a 1997 film about Will Hunting, a twenty-year-old self-taught genius from South Boston. He works as a janitor at MIT and spends his free time drinking with friends Chuckie, Billy, and Morgan. When Professor Gerald Lambeau poses a challenging combinatorial math problem for his graduate students, Will solves it anonymously, impressing both the students and Lambeau. Later, Will is caught solving another complex problem and flees.
At a bar, Will meets Skylar, a British woman graduating from Harvard College and planning to attend medical school at Stanford. The next day, Will gets arrested after a fight with a gang that bullied him as a child. Lambeau intervenes and arranges for Will to avoid jail time if he studies mathematics under his supervision and attends therapy sessions.
Initially, Will mocks his therapists, but Lambeau eventually seeks help from Dr. Sean Maguire, an old college roommate and psychology professor at Bunker Hill Community College. Sean challenges Will’s defense mechanisms and begins to break through his barriers. Will is particularly moved by Sean’s story of meeting his late wife, which inspires Will to open up to Skylar. Despite his progress, Will struggles with honesty about his past and hesitates to introduce Skylar to his friends or neighborhood.
The story explores themes of self-discovery, relationships, and overcoming personal barriers as Will navigates his journey with the help of Sean and Lambeau.
