Description: Max, Lucas, and Thor, three friends starting sixth grade, each face their own challenges. Max has a crush on his classmate Brixlee, Lucas learns his parents are divorcing, and Thor is mocked by his peers for his love of singing. When Max gets the chance to kiss Brixlee at a party hosted by the popular Soren, he and his friends decide to spy on Max’s teenage neighbor, Hannah, using his father’s drone to learn how to kiss properly. The plan backfires, resulting in the drone’s destruction and the boys accidentally taking Hannah’s ecstasy pills.
To avoid punishment, they skip school to replace the drone at the mall, with Hannah and her friend Lily chasing them. After a series of misadventures, the boys discover Hannah and Lily have bought the drone, demanding the ecstasy in exchange. Having already given the pills to a police officer, they manage to get more from Hannah’s ex-boyfriend and retrieve the drone. Despite their efforts, Max’s father finds out he used the drone and grounds him. The friends argue and part ways, though Max takes the blame to protect Lucas and Thor.
Lucas’s parents later explain that the trio might be growing apart. That night, Lucas convinces Max to sneak out to the party, reuniting the three boys. At the party, Max finally kisses Brixlee, while Hannah and Lily encourage Thor to pursue his passion for singing. In the weeks that follow, Thor lands a role in the school play, Lucas joins an anti-bullying group, and Max starts dating his classmate Scout after brief relationships with Brixlee and Taylor. After the school musical, the friends reconcile, vowing to stay close despite their growing differences.
