Later, a Times of India article on April 2, 2020, revealed Alexx O’Nell’s role as Major Frederick Jackson, the antagonist. Filming began in Kolkata on February 5, 2020, but was paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Production resumed on December 1, 2020, and concluded on February 24, 2021.

Golondaaj premiered in theaters on October 10, 2021. Its Hindi-dubbed version was released on November 12, 2021, on a pan-India scale. The movie is set for a digital premiere on SVF’s OTT platform, Hoichoi, and internationally on Amazon Prime Video, followed by a television premiere on Star Jalsha.

The film is a historical drama that pays tribute to Nagendra Prasad Sarbadhikari’s legacy, showcasing his vision and determination to bring football to the forefront in India.
