Description: The story of *Gold* begins during the 1936 Berlin Olympics, where the Indian hockey team faces off against Germany in the finals. Despite Germany’s aggressive tactics, the Indian team starts dominating in the second half after their assistant manager, Tapan Das (played by Akshay Kumar), motivates them by showing the Indian flag during halftime. When the team, led by captain Samrat (Kunal Kapoor), wins the gold medal, the British national anthem is played, and the flag of British India is raised. This moment inspires the team to pledge that they will win another gold medal for their independent motherland in the future.
Due to World War II, the subsequent Olympics are canceled. After the war, Tapan, who has become a disillusioned and reckless man, hears that the next Olympics will be held in London in 1948. Determined to make India compete as a free nation, he sets out to form a new hockey team. His goal is to win independent India’s first Olympic gold medal at the 1948 Summer Olympics.
Tapan faces challenges in securing his position as the team’s joint manager but eventually succeeds. He reunites with former players, including Samrat, who declines the opportunity to lead the team but suggests Imtiaz Ali Shah (Vineet Kumar Singh), a key player from the 1936 Olympics and a former soldier in the Indian National Army. Together, Tapan and Imtiaz work tirelessly to fulfill their dream of winning gold for an independent India.
Tapan travels across India to scout talented players, ultimately assembling a diverse national hockey team. Among the recruits are Thakur Raghubir Pratap Singh (Amit Sadh) and Himmat Singh (Sunny Kaushal), two skilled forwards from Central India and Punjab. With this team, Tapan strives to keep his promise and achieve glory for the nation.
