Description: Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is a 2022 film set during the COVID-19 pandemic. The story revolves around billionaire Miles Bron, the owner of the tech company Alpha Industries, who organizes a murder mystery party at his private island mansion, the Glass Onion. He invites his five closest friends: Alpha’s head scientist Lionel Toussaint, Connecticut governor Claire Debella, fashion designer Birdie Jay, men’s rights streamer Duke Cody, and estranged former business partner Cassandra “Andi” Brand. Also joining the group are Birdie’s assistant Peg, Duke’s girlfriend Whiskey, and Detective Benoit Blanc, who claims to have received an invitation despite Miles denying he sent one. Miles allows Blanc to stay, suspecting he might be a target for murder.
As the day unfolds, tensions rise within the group. Lionel is frustrated with Miles’ efforts to promote Klear, a potentially hazardous hydrogen-based alternative fuel powering the Glass Onion. Andi confronts the group, criticizing Miles’ financial control over them. That evening, Blanc quickly solves the planned murder mystery, disappointing Miles, and the group turns to drinking. After a heated argument with Andi, who storms off, Duke suddenly dies after accidentally drinking from Miles’ glass.
Panic ensues as the group suspects Andi of being the killer and discovers Duke’s pistol is missing. The mansion’s lights go out, part of the planned mystery, and chaos erupts. Blanc finds Andi just before she is shot and seemingly killed by an unknown assailant.
In flashbacks, it is revealed that Blanc was hired by Andi’s twin sister, Helen, to investigate Andi’s alleged suicide a week earlier. Helen explains that Miles removed Andi as CEO of Alpha after she rejected his proposal to release Klear. Andi also lost a lawsuit against him because she couldn’t prove she founded the company, not Miles.
Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery is a gripping tale of intrigue, deception, and suspense.
