Description: Girls to Buy (Polish: Dziewczyny z Dubaju), released in 2021, is a Polish erotic drama film centered around the lives of Dubai escorts. The movie stars Paulina Gałązka, Olga Kalicka, Katarzyna Sawczuk, Giulio Berruti, Katarzyna Figura, Jan Englert, Beata Ścibak-Englert, Anna Karczmarczyk, and Józek Pawłowski. Based on the 2018 book “Girls from Dubai” by Piotr Krysiak, the film was produced by singer-turned-producer Doda and directed by Maria Sadowska.
The story follows a young, ambitious woman who dreams of a better life. When the opportunity arises, she becomes a high-end escort in Dubai, eventually recruiting other Polish celebrities, actresses, and models into the lavish world of Arab sheiks. However, this seemingly luxurious life soon reveals its dark side. Inspired by true events, Girls to Buy exposes the hypocrisy of Polish show business and uncovers the truth behind the infamous “Dubai scandal.”
The movie was filmed in Poland, France, and the United Arab Emirates, with its budget kept confidential. It became a major hit in 2021, achieving the best opening for a Polish film that year with 278,000 ticket sales during its first weekend, second only to James Bond’s “No Time to Die.” By the second weekend, it attracted over 602,383 viewers, earning the title of the biggest Polish film of the year. It was also screened internationally in countries like the UK, Germany, the Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, Luxembourg, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, the United States, and Iceland by December 2021.
