Description: “Ghost” (1990) is a captivating film that tells the story of Sam Wheat, a banker, and his girlfriend Molly Jensen, an artist. Together, they renovate and move into a Manhattan apartment with the help of Sam’s friend and coworker, Carl Bruner. One day, Sam discovers unusually high balances in obscure bank accounts and decides to investigate the matter on his own, despite Carl’s offer to help. Tragically, Sam is killed in a mugging incident, leaving Molly devastated.
Upon his death, Sam realizes he has become a ghost, unable to interact with the living world. He stays close to Molly, observing her grief. Meanwhile, Carl suggests Molly take a walk with him, during which the mugger, Willie Lopez, breaks into their apartment. Sam manages to scare the intruder away by causing their cat to attack him. Later, Sam follows Willie to his Brooklyn apartment and learns that he was hired by someone unknown.
Sam then encounters Oda Mae Brown, a phony psychic who surprisingly discovers she can genuinely communicate with him. With her help, Sam tries to warn Molly about the danger she’s in. To prove the warning is real, Oda Mae shares private details only Sam would know. Molly reports Willie’s address to Carl, who offers to investigate, and also approaches the police. However, the police reveal that Willie doesn’t exist in their records and instead provide information about Oda Mae’s criminal background.
As Sam continues to follow Carl, he is heartbroken to uncover that Carl and Willie are working together. Carl has been laundering money for drug dealers and orchestrated the robbery to obtain Sam’s book of passwords.
