Description: “Ghoomketu” is a 2020 Hindi film that follows the journey of an aspiring writer from a small village named Mahona in Uttar Pradesh. The protagonist, Ghoomketu, dreams of making it big in the world of writing, but faces constant opposition from his short-tempered father, Dadda, who disapproves of his ambitions. Dadda, a remarried widower, holds authority over the family, including his younger brother, a local strongman turned politician who remains unmarried due to a failed love affair.
In a twist of fate, Ghoomketu’s uncle arranges a group marriage ceremony, where confusion leads to Ghoomketu marrying the wrong woman, Janaki Devi. Disheartened, he avoids her entirely, even after ten days of marriage. Despite his father’s disapproval, Ghoomketu finds support in his aunt, who funds his move to Mumbai to pursue his writing career. However, his sudden disappearance prompts his family to file a police complaint, pressuring the authorities to find him within a month.
In Mumbai, a lazy and corrupt officer named Badlani is tasked with locating Ghoomketu within 30 days or facing a transfer to a punishment posting. Coincidentally, Ghoomketu ends up staying in Badlani’s tailoring shop, but the officer fails to recognize him due to the lack of a photograph. Ghoomketu’s friendly nature helps him befriend Badlani’s family, while he struggles to gain recognition as a writer.
After facing repeated rejections, Ghoomketu decides to return home. On his way back, his manuscript is stolen, and he files a police report at Badlani’s station. As he provides his details, Badlani finally realizes he’s the man he’s been searching for. Before Badlani can act, Ghoomketu departs for his village, leaving the officer in a desperate chase to save his job.
