Description: “Gaddalakonda Ganesh” is a 2019 Indian action-comedy film in Telugu, directed by Harish Shankar and produced by Ram Achanta and Gopichand Achanta under the 14 Reels Plus banner. It is an official remake of the 2014 Tamil film “Jigarthanda,” which was inspired by the 2006 South Korean movie “A Dirty Carnival.” The movie features Varun Tej, Atharvaa, Pooja Hegde, and Mirnalini Ravi in lead roles and marks the Telugu debut of Atharvaa and Mirnalini Ravi. Originally titled “Valmiki,” the film was later renamed “Gaddalakonda Ganesh” due to controversies and legal issues.
The story follows Abhilash, aka Abhi, an aspiring film director who dreams of making a successful movie. After being insulted by a director, Abhi takes on the challenge to prove his talent. Encouraged by a producer, he decides to create a biopic about a gangster. His search leads him to Gaddalakonda Ganesh, aka Gani, a notorious gangster from the town of Gaddalakonda. With the help of his friend Chintakayyi, Abhi begins to uncover Gani’s life. Along the way, he befriends one of Gani’s henchmen, Thuppaki, and forms a romantic connection with Bujjama, the granddaughter of Gani’s chef.
As the plot unfolds, Abhi and Chintakayyi discover that Thuppaki is conspiring with Gani’s rival, Prabhakar, to overthrow Gani. Gani, aware of the plan, takes drastic steps to eliminate the threat. In a surprising twist, Gani learns about Abhi’s biopic project and agrees to share his life story, including his criminal past. From his early days as a troublemaker to his involvement with an M.L.A., Gani’s journey is filled with action, humor, and unexpected turns. The film also explores Gani’s unrequited love for Sridevi, a computer student, and the challenges they face due to societal norms.
