Description: In 1963, “From Russia with Love” tells the story of SPECTRE, an international criminal organization seeking revenge against James Bond for the death of their agent, Dr. No, in Jamaica. SPECTRE trains its agents to assassinate Bond and assigns the task to Irish hitman Donald “Red” Grant. To set a trap, SPECTRE’s chief strategist, Czechoslovak chess grandmaster Kronsteen, devises a plan to lure Bond into stealing a Soviet Lektor cryptography device from their consulate in Istanbul. Former SMERSH colonel Rosa Klebb oversees the operation, ensuring Grant carries out the assassination at the right moment. Klebb recruits Tatiana Romanova, a cipher clerk at the consulate, to unknowingly assist in the plan, convincing her she is still working for Soviet intelligence.
In London, Bond is informed by M that Romanova has offered to defect to the West in exchange for providing the Lektor. Suspecting a trap but deciding to proceed, M assigns Bond to the mission. Before leaving, Bond receives a specially equipped attaché case from Q, containing defensive gadgets and a sniper rifle. In Istanbul, Bond collaborates with MI6’s local agent, Ali Kerim Bey, while waiting for Romanova’s contact. During this time, they face threats from Soviet agent Krilencu, who is ultimately killed by Kerim with Bond’s help.
Romanova eventually meets Bond at his hotel, providing him with consulate plans to steal the Lektor. Unaware that SPECTRE is filming their encounter as part of Kronsteen’s scheme, Bond and Romanova spend the night together. The plot unfolds as Bond navigates danger, deception, and espionage to complete his mission.
