Description: Seventeen-year-old Charley Brewster is a fan of a horror TV show called “Fright Night,” hosted by former vampire hunter Peter Vincent. One evening, Charley discovers that his new neighbor, Jerry Dandrige, is a vampire responsible for several disappearances. After alerting his mother, Charley seeks help from his girlfriend, Amy Peterson, and his friend, “Evil Ed” Thompson, before turning to the police. Detective Lennox accompanies Charley to question Jerry, but his supposed roommate, Billy Cole, claims Jerry is away on business. When Charley shares his suspicions about Jerry being a vampire, Lennox becomes angry and leaves.
Later, Jerry visits Charley’s home, having been invited in by Charley’s mother. He offers Charley a choice: ignore his activities or face the consequences. When Charley refuses and confronts him with a crucifix, Jerry tries to push him out the window. Charley stabs Jerry’s hand with a pencil in self-defense. In retaliation, Jerry destroys Charley’s car and threatens him over the phone. Determined to stop Jerry, Charley seeks help from Peter Vincent, but Peter dismisses him as an obsessed fan. Worried for Charley’s safety, Amy hires Peter to prove Jerry isn’t a vampire by giving him tap water disguised as holy water. However, Peter accidentally discovers Jerry’s true nature when he notices Jerry’s lack of reflection in a mirror.
Meanwhile, Jerry turns Ed into a vampire, and Ed later attempts to attack Peter but is repelled by a crucifix. Jerry chases Charley and Amy into a nightclub, escalating the danger.
