The film tells the story of Amin Nawabi, a man who reveals his hidden past of fleeing his homeland for the first time. Executive produced by Riz Ahmed and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, the movie premiered at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival on January 28, 2021, and was later released in U.S. theaters on December 3, 2021, by Neon and Participant.
Flee received widespread acclaim from critics and film festivals, praised for its animation, storytelling, thematic depth, and LGBTQ+ representation. It earned numerous awards, including recognition from the National Board of Review, and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature.
