Description: First Blood is a 1982 action film that follows the story of John Rambo, a Vietnam War veteran. While searching for an old comrade, Rambo discovers that his friend had passed away the previous year due to cancer caused by Agent Orange exposure during the war. Rambo arrives in the small town of Hope, Washington, where he encounters Sheriff Will Teasle. Teasle, viewing Rambo as a drifter and troublemaker, takes him to the outskirts of town and arrests him on charges of vagrancy, resisting arrest, and carrying a concealed knife.
At the police station, Rambo is mistreated by the officers, particularly by Chief Deputy Art Galt. The abuse triggers Rambo’s traumatic memories of his time as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. When the officers try to shave him with a straight razor, Rambo fights back, escapes the station, steals a motorcycle, and seeks refuge in the woods.
Sheriff Teasle assembles a search party equipped with automatic weapons, dogs, and a helicopter to track Rambo. Galt, disobeying orders, attempts to shoot Rambo from the helicopter while he is descending a cliff. In a desperate move, Rambo leaps off the cliff, landing on a tree branch and injuring his arm. Despite his injury, Rambo manages to throw a rock, damaging the helicopter’s windshield. Galt, who had removed his safety harness, loses his balance and falls to his death.
The film explores themes of survival, trauma, and the struggle of a war veteran adjusting to civilian life.
