Description: Finding Nemo is a 2003 animated film that follows the adventures of a young clownfish named Nemo, who lives with his father, Marlin, in the Great Barrier Reef. Despite having a damaged fin, Nemo is curious about the ocean world, but Marlin is overly protective due to the tragic loss of his wife, Coral, and their other eggs in a barracuda attack, leaving Nemo as his only surviving child.
On Nemo’s first day of school, Marlin inadvertently embarrasses him. While Marlin is distracted, Nemo ventures toward a speedboat, where he is captured by scuba divers. Desperate to save his son, Marlin swims after the boat and encounters Dory, a kind-hearted blue tang with short-term memory loss, who offers to assist him.
Their journey leads them to a group of sharks who have vowed not to eat fish. During this encounter, Marlin discovers a diver’s mask that fell from the boat that took Nemo. A struggle for the mask causes Dory to bleed, triggering a shark’s feeding frenzy. Marlin and Dory narrowly escape but are knocked unconscious when the sharks accidentally detonate old naval mines.
Meanwhile, Nemo finds himself placed in a dentist’s office aquarium in Sydney, Australia. There, he meets the Tank Gang, a group of fish led by Gill, a Moorish idol. The gang includes Bubbles, a yellow tang; Peach, a starfish; Jacques, a cleaner shrimp; Bloat, a blowfish; Gurgle, a royal gramma; and Deb, a damselfish. Nemo soon learns that he is to be given to the dentist’s niece, Darla, whose careless handling has already caused the death of several fish.
Gill devises a daring escape plan involving Nemo jamming the aquarium’s filter with a pebble. The plan would force the dentist to temporarily move the fish into plastic bags, giving them a chance to roll out the window into the harbor. However, Nemo’s first attempt fails, nearly costing him his life and leaving Gill filled with guilt.
The film beautifully portrays the themes of family, courage, and perseverance as Marlin and Nemo strive to reunite against all odds.
