Description: In Spain, young Ferdinand resides with other calves and bulls at Señor Moreno’s “Casa del Toro,” a place where bulls are trained for bullfighting. Unlike the others, Ferdinand is a pacifist and faces bullying from calves named Valiente, Guapo, and Bones. When a matador visits, the calves’ fathers compete to impress him. Ferdinand’s father, Raf, is chosen, and in retaliation, Valiente crushes Ferdinand’s favorite flower. Raf doesn’t return from the ring, and realizing his father is gone, Ferdinand flees Casa del Toro. He ends up at a flower farm owned by Juan and his daughter Nina, who adopt him, much to the dismay of their dog, Paco.
Years later, Ferdinand grows into a massive yet gentle bull. Juan decides Ferdinand is too intimidating to bring to the annual Flower Festival in Ronda, as they had in previous years. Ignoring this, Ferdinand follows them but gets stung by a bee, panics, and inadvertently destroys the town square. Animal Control officers label him as dangerous and take him away before Nina and Juan can intervene.
Ferdinand is returned to Casa del Toro, where he reunites with Valiente, Bones, and Guapo, and meets new additions: Lupe the goat, Angus the Highland bull, and Maquina, a cloned Galloway. Ferdinand attempts to escape but is halted by three German Lipizzan horses, now tasked with preventing bulls from fleeing. Meanwhile, El Primero, a conceited matador, arrives seeking a bull for his final bullfight before retirement. Moreno pits the bulls against each other in the ring, but Ferdinand refuses to fight. His efforts to help Guapo recover from a fainting spell lead to chaos. El Primero gives Moreno two days to prepare the bulls. Guapo is sent to the chop house, and Valiente reveals to a horrified Ferdinand that non-fighting bulls are turned into meat.
That night, Ferdinand consoles Bones as he mourns Guapo, earning his friendship. The next day, he fixes Angus’ hair, allowing him to see better, and gains another ally. Ferdinand, Bones, and Angus challenge the horses to a dance-off, with Maquina joining in to secure their victory. Valiente mocks their bonding, claiming they’ve wasted time, forcing the other bulls to abandon Ferdinand and return to training.
