Description: “Fear Street Part Three: 1666” is the concluding chapter of the Fear Street trilogy, following “Part One: 1994” and “Part Two: 1978.” This American supernatural horror film, directed by Leigh Janiak, was co-written by Phil Graziadei and Kate Trefry. Inspired by R. L. Stine’s book series of the same name, the movie delves into the origins of the Shadyside, Ohio curse and the infamous witch trials that set everything in motion.
Produced by Chernin Entertainment, the film’s adaptation process began at 20th Century Studios in 2015, with Janiak joining the project in 2017. The trilogy was filmed consecutively from March to September 2019 in Georgia, initially aiming for a theatrical release in June 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox, Chernin Entertainment terminated its distribution agreement with 20th Century Studios and transferred the rights to Netflix in August 2020. The film premiered on Netflix on July 16, 2021.
