**Storyline:**
George Banks, the owner of a thriving athletic shoe company called Side Kicks in San Marino, California, recounts the challenges he faced during his daughter’s wedding preparations. His 22-year-old daughter, Annie, returns home from Europe after graduating from college and surprises her family with the news that she is engaged to Bryan MacKenzie, despite knowing him for only three months. The unexpected announcement sparks a heated argument between George and Annie, though they soon reconcile in time for Bryan’s arrival. While George’s wife, Nina, quickly warms up to Bryan, George struggles to accept him, finding it difficult to let go of his daughter.
When George and Nina meet Bryan’s wealthy parents, John and Joanna MacKenzie, who reside in a luxurious Bel-Air mansion, tensions rise. George’s curiosity about the MacKenzies’ finances leads to an embarrassing encounter with their aggressive Dobermans, resulting in him falling into their pool.
Despite the rocky start, the Banks family begins planning the wedding with the help of an eccentric German wedding coordinator, Franck Eggelhoffer. His stress reaches a breaking point when he attempts to wear an old tuxedo, only for it to rip. Overwhelmed, George storms out of the house and causes a scene at a local supermarket to vent his frustrations.
