Description: “Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel III. Spring Song,” released in 2020, is a Japanese anime fantasy film produced by ufotable and directed by Tomonori Sudō. Serving as the concluding chapter of the Heaven’s Feel trilogy, this movie picks up immediately after the events of its predecessor, “Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel II. Lost Butterfly.” It debuted in Japan on August 15, 2020, and later in the United States on November 18, 2020.
The plot revolves around Sakura Matou, who merges with the shadow after killing her brother, Shinji, following his attempted assault. Shirou Emiya discovers Shinji’s body and faces ridicule from Zouken Matou, who blames him for Sakura’s corruption. Shirou is saved from Zouken’s insect familiars by Rider. Zouken then sends the corrupted Sakura to capture Illyasviel von Einzbern, intended to serve as the Holy Grail’s vessel, mirroring her mother’s fate. Sakura, accompanied by Saber Alter, attacks the Emiya household and overpowers her sister, Rin Tohsaka. To protect everyone, Illya surrenders, and Rider, bound by Sakura’s final command spell, refuses to directly confront her, prompting Shirou to reluctantly seek Kirei Kotomine’s assistance.
In a climactic sequence at the ruined Einzbern castle, Kirei battles Zouken and his Servant Assassin while Shirou rescues Illya. However, Sakura dispatches a corrupted Berserker to pursue them. In a desperate move, Shirou unleashes the power of Archer’s transplanted arm, knowing it may cost him his life, to defeat Berserker. Before dying, Berserker, now lucid, entrusts Illya’s safety to Shirou. Kirei incapacitates Assassin and destroys Zouken’s body, reflecting on his desire to understand his existence as someone who finds joy in others’ suffering. Sakura confronts Kirei, destroys his artificial heart from the previous Holy Grail War, but fails to eliminate him when she is forced to reabsorb the defeated Berserker.
