Description: “Fate/stay night: Heaven’s Feel II. Lost Butterfly,” released in 2019, is a Japanese anime fantasy film produced by ufotable and directed by Tomonori Sudō. It serves as the second part of the Heaven’s Feel trilogy, adapted from the visual novel Fate/stay night. The film premiered in Japan on January 12, 2019, and in the United States on March 14, 2019.
The story continues from the events of the first film, focusing on the Holy Grail War and the relationship between Shirou Emiya and Sakura Matou, two teenagers caught in the conflict. After Shirou is removed as a Master in the War, he remains determined to save Sakura and others involved. Following Saber’s disappearance, Shirou resolves to fight on despite his diminished role.
Upon returning from a meeting with Rin Tohsaka, Shirou discovers Sakura has been kidnapped by her brother, Shinji. The two confront him, and Sakura pleads for an end to the conflict. Rider intervenes, revealing Sakura as her true Master. Shinji, realizing he will never be a Magus, forces Sakura to lose control of her mana by using a potion. In the chaos, Archer and Rin attack Sakura, but Rider defends her, revealing her true identity as Medusa. Shirou’s injury and loss of consciousness cause Sakura immense grief, leading her to harm herself and prompting Rider to halt the battle.
Shirou later awakens in Fuyuki Church, where priest Kirei Kotomine treats Sakura. Kirei explains that Sakura’s body is infested with Zōken Matou’s Crest Worms, which drain her mana by manipulating her emotions.”
