**Storyline:**
Derrick Tyler, a former college basketball star, has built a successful sports management agency in Los Angeles with his best friend, Rafe Grimes. The agency primarily represents African-American athletes. However, Derrick’s personal life is in turmoil. His marriage to Tracie, a real estate agent, is on the verge of collapse, as he suspects her of having an affair. Meanwhile, Rafe pressures Derrick to sell the company to a larger corporation, but Derrick values his independence and refuses.
During a business trip to Las Vegas, Rafe encourages Derrick to let loose and have a fling. Removing his wedding ring and introducing himself as “Darren from Seattle,” Derrick meets a woman at a bar. She admits she’s also looking for casual fun, and they end up spending the night in her hotel room. The next morning, Derrick tries to leave discreetly but discovers she has locked his phone in the room safe, forcing him to stay and engage with her again.
Upon returning to Los Angeles, a guilt-ridden Derrick attempts to reconcile with Tracie. That same night, he hears a noise and investigates, only to be attacked by a masked intruder. Derrick barely manages to fight off the attacker. When the police arrive, the detective assigned to the case is revealed to be Valerie Quinlan—the woman from Las Vegas. Valerie begins questioning Tracie with unrelated accusations and subtly threatens Derrick, implying she could expose his infidelity—or remain silent for a price.
Valerie’s personal life is equally complicated. She is obsessed with her ex-husband, Carter Heywood, a local politician who filed a restraining order against her after their daughter, Haley, accidentally shot herself with Valerie’s unattended service weapon. Haley is now in a wheelchair, and Valerie has lost custody of her. Desperate to regain custody, Valerie hopes to exploit a corruption scandal involving Carter.
During her investigation into Derrick’s life, Valerie discovers that Tracie is cheating on him with Rafe. This revelation sets the stage for a web of manipulation, betrayal, and suspense.
