The plot revolves around Charlie Swift, a seasoned fixer and hitman for a mob boss named Stan. After a rival mob leader orders a hit on Stan and his men, Charlie finds himself as the only survivor. Driven by a desire for vengeance, he partners up with Marcie, the ex-wife of a mobster he has killed.
Initially, in June 2009, the rights to Gischler’s novel were acquired for a film adaptation, with various writers and directors attached to the project over the years. Producer Dan Grodnik took over the project in 2018, enlisting Phillip Noyce for direction.
The film saw interest from stars like Kevin Costner and Bryan Cranston, but the cast solidified when Pierce Brosnan joined. In March 2022, additional cast members James Caan and Morena Baccarin were announced. Filming commenced in April 2022 in New Orleans. Tragically, “Fast Charlie” marked the final performance of James Caan, who passed away on July 6, 2022.
