Description: In the 1998 thriller *Fallen*, Philadelphia Police Detective John Hobbes visits Edgar Reese, a serial killer he helped apprehend, on death row. Reese, seemingly confident, grabs Hobbes’ hand and delivers a cryptic monologue in an unfamiliar language later identified as Aramaic. As Reese is executed, he mocks the witnesses and sings “Time Is on My Side” by the Rolling Stones.
Hobbes and his partner, Jonesy, soon investigate a series of murders resembling Reese’s style, initially believing them to be the work of a copycat killer. Following clues from Reese and the new killer, Hobbes encounters Gretta Milano. She reveals her father, a former detective, took his own life after being accused of occult-related murders.
At the Milano family’s abandoned lake house, Hobbes discovers unsettling books on demonic possession and the name “Azazel” hidden under grime. Gretta warns Hobbes to drop the case, fearing for his safety, but after a chilling encounter with Azazel, she explains the demon’s ability to possess humans through touch. Hobbes recalls shaking hands with Reese before his execution, realizing Azazel attempted to possess him.
Azazel begins targeting Hobbes, possessing his friend Lou and taunting him while moving between bodies, leaving Hobbes increasingly desperate. The demon’s ominous presence grows, and Hobbes confronts Azazel, revealing his knowledge of the entity’s true identity. The film builds tension as Hobbes fights against a seemingly unstoppable force.
