Bush cites the uranium procurement in his 2003 State of the Union address to justify military action in Iraq, Wilson writes an op-ed in The New York Times, exposing the inaccuracies. In retaliation, Plame’s CIA identity is leaked to the media, allegedly by White House officials, including Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff, Scooter Libby. This revelation not only compromises her career but also creates tension in her marriage.
