**Storyline:**
Ash Williams and his girlfriend, Linda, embark on a romantic getaway to a remote cabin in the woods. During their stay, Ash plays a recording left by Raymond Knowby, the cabin’s former resident, who was an archaeologist. The recording contains passages from the *Necronomicon Ex-Mortis* (Book of the Dead), which Knowby discovered during an excavation. When the incantation is played, it awakens a malevolent force known as the Kandarian Demon. This evil entity kills Linda and later possesses her, turning her into a “deadite.” In a desperate act, Ash decapitates Linda with a shovel and buries her near the cabin.
At sunrise, the demonic force hurls Ash into the forest. Although Ash becomes briefly possessed, he returns to normal once daylight arrives. Attempting to escape, Ash finds the bridge destroyed, forcing him back to the cabin. There, Linda’s reanimated head attacks him, biting his hand. Ash takes her severed head to the shed, where her headless body ambushes him with a chainsaw. Ash fights back and kills the deadite Linda once again. Later, Ash’s right hand becomes possessed and tries to kill him, prompting Ash to sever it with his chainsaw. He attempts to shoot the detached hand with a shotgun, but it mocks him and escapes.
Meanwhile, Annie, Knowby’s daughter, and her research partner, Ed Getley, return from the archaeological dig with missing pages of the *Necronomicon*. They discover the destroyed bridge and enlist the help of locals, Jake and Bobby Joe, to guide them to the cabin via an alternate route. Upon arriving, they find Ash, who has been battling the evil forces. Mistaking him for the murderer of the Knowbys, they lock him in the cellar.
As the newcomers listen to a recording left by Knowby, they learn that his wife, Henrietta, was possessed by the Kandarian Demon and buried in the cellar. Henrietta, now a deadite, possesses Ed, and Ash is forced to dismember him with an axe.
The story unfolds as Ash and the others face terrifying supernatural threats, struggling to survive the relentless evil unleashed by the *Necronomicon*.
