The story follows Everly (Salma Hayek), who is trapped in sexual slavery under the brutal Japanese crime lord Taiko (Hiroyuki Watanabe). After Taiko discovers she has been collaborating with a police officer to undermine his organization, he sends his enforcers to her apartment to kill her. Despite being tortured, Everly retrieves a hidden gun and fights back, killing her attackers. Taiko then launches a sadistic game, sending numerous assassins after her and offering a bounty to anyone who can kill her.
While evading Taiko’s men, Everly tries to contact her mother, Edith (Laura Cepeda), and her young daughter, Maisey (Aisha Ayamah), to rescue them from Taiko’s henchmen. Her mother, however, refuses to leave without her. Eventually, Everly is captured by Taiko’s assistant, The Sadist (Togo Igawa), who tortures her using battery acid, sulfuric acid, and other corrosive substances. As Everly endures the torment, her mother manages to kill two of The Sadist’s henchmen, only to be forced to drink drain cleaner in retaliation.
The film is a gritty and intense portrayal of survival and resistance against overwhelming odds.
