**StoryLine:**
Scott “Scotty” Thomas from Hudson, Ohio, faces heartbreak when his girlfriend Fiona dumps him right after their high school graduation. Along with his best friend Cooper Harris, Scotty attends a graduation party where the band sings about Fiona’s affair with the lead singer. Drunk and upset, Scotty returns home and reads an email from his German pen pal, Mieke, who he mistakenly thought was named “Mike.” Cooper jokingly suggests “Mike” could be a predator, leading Scotty to tell Mieke to stay away. Later, Scotty’s younger brother Bert reveals that “Mieke” is actually a common German feminine name. Realizing his mistake and developing feelings for her, Scotty tries to reach out to Mieke, but she has already blocked his email. Determined to apologize in person, Scotty decides to travel to Europe with Cooper to find her.
Their journey begins in London, where they meet a group of Manchester United football hooligans led by Mad Maynard. After a wild night, Scotty and Cooper wake up on a bus headed to Paris. There, they reunite with their classmates, fraternal twins Jenny and Jamie, who agree to join them in their search for Mieke in Berlin. Their adventure takes them to Amsterdam, where Jamie gets robbed in an alley, leaving the group without money, passports, and train tickets. Stranded, they attempt to hitchhike to Berlin but end up in Bratislava due to a language misunderstanding.
In Bratislava, they take advantage of the favorable exchange rate and visit a nightclub. After drinking absinthe, Jenny and Jamie end up kissing, leaving Scotty and Cooper shocked. The next day, a Slovak man drives them to Berlin, where they discover Mieke has already left for Rome. With limited time to find her, Jamie sells his Leica camera to buy plane tickets, and the group heads to Rome to continue their quest.
