Description: In 1993, Erin Brockovich, an unemployed single mother of three, sues a doctor after being injured in a car accident. Her lawyer, Ed Masry, anticipates a win, but Erin’s aggressive behavior in court leads to a loss. Afterward, Ed ignores her calls. One day, she shows up at his office, claiming he told her things would work out, but they didn’t. She demands a job, and Ed reluctantly hires her.
Assigned to a real estate case involving Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) purchasing Donna Jensen’s home in Hinkley, California, Erin notices medical records in the file. Visiting Donna, she learns about PG&E’s assistance with medical expenses due to health issues linked to chromium. Erin investigates further and discovers that PG&E has contaminated Hinkley’s groundwater with carcinogenic hexavalent chromium while misleading residents about it being a safer form.
After days of research, Erin returns to find her desk cleared and learns she’s been fired for missing work. Later, Ed visits her to retrieve her findings, and she negotiates her job back. Rehired, Erin continues her investigation, building trust with Hinkley residents. At a community barbecue organized by Ed and Erin, they expose PG&E’s deceit, and Erin is flirted with by one of the attendees.
