Description: John Kruger, a top U.S. Marshal working for the Witness Security Protection Program (WITSEC), specializes in “erasing” high-profile witnesses—faking their deaths and giving them new identities to ensure their safety before they testify in court. After successfully erasing mobster-turned-informant Johnny Casteleone and his wife, John is assigned a new task by his superior, Arthur Beller. He is tasked with protecting Lee Cullen, a senior executive at defense contractor Cyrez Corporation, who has alerted the FBI about her colleagues secretly developing an advanced electromagnetic rifle to sell on the black market for profit.
As part of an FBI sting operation, Lee downloads critical data about the weapon onto two discs—one for the FBI and one for herself. However, her actions are discovered by Cyrez Vice President William Donohue, who confronts her, threatens her with a revolver, and later commits suicide. Lee hands over the disc but refuses John’s offer for witness protection, convinced the FBI was willing to sacrifice her to expose the conspiracy. Unbeknownst to her, the FBI’s disc is replaced with a fake on the orders of Under Secretary of Defense Daniel Harper, the mastermind behind the scheme.
That night, Lee is ambushed in her home by mercenaries sent by Cyrez CEO Eugene Morehart. John rescues her, erases her identity, and sets her up with a new one, keeping her location hidden even from WITSEC. John later learns from his mentor, Marshal Robert DeGuerin, that several witnesses he protected have been killed due to a mole within WITSEC leaking information. The agency begins relocating all protected witnesses. Alongside Marshals Calderon, Schiff, and a new recruit named Monroe, John assists DeGuerin in raiding a remote cabin to rescue a female witness from assassins. However, DeGuerin quietly kills the witness after she overhears one of the captors reveal that he is the mole.
