Description: Emmanuelle: The Joys of a Woman, released in 1975, tells the story of Emmanuelle as she travels to Hong Kong to reunite with her husband, Jean. The journey begins on a ship where, due to a lack of cabins, Emmanuelle stays in an all-female dormitory. During the night, she is approached by a fellow passenger who shares a traumatic yet strangely pleasurable experience of being assaulted by three Filipino girls during her boarding school days in Macao. This confession leads to a sexual encounter between the two women.
Upon arriving in Hong Kong, Emmanuelle is warmly greeted by Jean, and their reunion is marked by passionate intimacy. She quickly integrates into the expatriate community and befriends Anna Maria, the young stepdaughter of one of Jean’s lovers. Through their friendship, Emmanuelle discovers Anna Maria’s inexperience and takes it upon herself to guide the young woman into a more adventurous life.
Throughout the film, Emmanuelle engages in a series of sexual escapades. She shares intimate moments with Anna Maria’s dance instructor and a tattooed man at a polo club. During an acupuncture session, she indulges in vivid sexual fantasies. She even disguises herself as a prostitute in a Hong Kong brothel, where she recounts her encounter with a group of sailors to Jean in a flashback. Emmanuelle, Jean, and Anna Maria visit a bathhouse, where they receive sensuous massages from three Thai women.
The story culminates with a trip to Bali. After Jean showers one evening, he finds Emmanuelle and Anna Maria waiting for him. Emmanuelle undresses Anna Maria and makes love to her, then watches approvingly as Jean takes the young woman’s virginity.
