Description: Elena and the Secret of Avalor is a 2016 animated movie set in the Kingdom of Avalor. The story follows Elena, who takes her friend Naomi to a mountain to share her favorite view of the kingdom. She reflects on the 41 years she spent trapped in the Amulet of Avalor and shows Naomi the broken wand of Shuriki, the evil sorceress who once threatened Avalor. Elena recounts how Princess Sofia played a pivotal role in her rescue and the kingdom’s salvation.
In Enchantia, Sofia experiences a vision of the past, witnessing Shuriki’s attack on Elena’s parents and Elena being struck by a spell. However, Sofia is interrupted before she can see the full outcome. As her family plans their summer vacation, Sofia’s amulet leads her to the castle’s secret library. There, she meets Alacazar, a wizard who explains that Elena was once the amulet’s rightful owner. The amulet saved Elena’s life by absorbing her when Shuriki attacked. Alacazar had been searching for someone to help free Elena and eventually transformed himself into a book to await the right person. Realizing her mission, Sofia convinces her family to travel to Avalor.
Upon arriving in Avalor, Sofia is shocked to discover the kingdom’s oppression under Shuriki’s rule. During a formal meeting with the sorceress, Sofia notices the people’s unhappiness and teams up with winged jaguars called jaquins. Together, they embark on a journey to Alacazar’s old home, determined to restore Elena and bring peace to Avalor.
