**Storyline:**
Five years ago, MI6 agent Ray Koval (Clive Owen) meets CIA officer Claire Stenwick (Julia Roberts) at a party in Dubai. Unaware of her true identity, Ray tries to seduce her, but Claire drugs him and steals classified documents.
Three years later in Rome, Ray and Claire reunite and spend several days together at a luxurious hotel. They consider leaving their government jobs to enter the competitive private sector, using their intelligence skills for personal gain. After months of exploring opportunities in various industries, they focus on cosmetics and personal hygiene, though their exact plan remains unclear.
Claire secures a job in counter-intelligence at Burkett & Randle, while Ray joins Equikrom’s intelligence division, becoming Claire’s handler. Knowing Ray’s new employer will monitor his loyalty, they rehearse their interactions to appear genuine. However, Claire’s employers at Burkett & Randle overhear their rehearsal, exposing her as a mole. Despite this, CEO Howard Tully (Tom Wilkinson) decides to keep Claire in her role to manipulate her in the rivalry with Equikrom.
As mole and handler, Claire and Ray repeat their rehearsed dialogue once more, convincing Ray’s employer of his loyalty.
