Description: Driving Licence is a 2019 Indian Malayalam-language comedy-drama film directed by Lal Jr. and written by Sachy. It is jointly produced by Supriya Menon and Listin Stephen under Prithviraj Productions and Magic Frames. The story revolves around film actor Hareendran, who urgently needs a driving licence. His devoted fan, Kuruvila Joseph, a Motor Vehicle Inspector, agrees to help him obtain it illegally. However, their encounter takes a wrong turn, leading to a feud that impacts both their personal and professional lives.
Hareendran is preparing to travel to the United States for his wife’s medical diagnosis, which delays the filming of his movie *The Great Dictator*. The production is already over budget, and the crew faces further complications when they discover Hareendran’s missing driving licence is required for clearance to shoot the climax on Indian Navy-leased land. Due to a clerical error, Hareendran cannot apply for a duplicate licence, and obtaining a new one would take too long.
Hareendran’s politician friend, Peringodan, approaches Kuruvila to expedite the process. Kuruvila agrees to issue the licence illegally without Hareendran taking the test, on the condition that the actor meets him in person at the RTO as proof of their interaction. Meanwhile, Hareendran’s professional rival, Bhadran, schemes to undermine him using unethical tactics.
The film was released in India on December 20, 2019, and internationally from December 25, 2019. It received positive reviews from critics and achieved commercial success at the box office.
