MUBI, a theatrical distributor and curated global film streaming platform, is set to release Ryusuke Hamaguchi’s critically acclaimed film *Drive My Car* exclusively in India. Adapted from Haruki Murakami’s short story, *Drive My Car* is a poignant road movie exploring themes of love, loss, acceptance, and peace. The story follows Yusuke Kafuku (Hidetoshi Nishijima), a celebrated actor and director, who, two years after his wife’s sudden death, is invited to direct Anton Chekhov’s *Uncle Vanya* at a theater festival in Hiroshima. There, he encounters Misaki Watari (Toko Miura), a reserved young woman assigned as his chauffeur for his cherished red Saab 900.
As the play’s premiere nears, tensions escalate among the cast and crew, particularly between Yusuke and Koji Takatsuki, a TV star with an unsettling link to Yusuke’s late wife.
