**Storyline:**
In 1969 Pasadena, a Hispanic couple seeks help from a young medium named Shaun San Dena (Adriana Barraza) after their son falls ill and hears evil voices. The boy had stolen a silver necklace from a Gypsy wagon, and despite trying to return it, he remains cursed. During a séance, an unseen force attacks them and drags the boy to Hell. Vowing to fight the demon again, San Dena prepares for future battles.
In present-day Los Angeles, Christine Brown (Alison Lohman), a bank loan officer, competes for a promotion with her conniving colleague, Stu Rubin. Her boss advises her to make tough decisions to prove herself. When Sylvia Ganush, an elderly and disheveled Roma woman, asks for a mortgage extension, Christine denies her request. Humiliated, Ganush curses Christine after a violent confrontation in the garage, leaving her haunted by an evil spirit.
Christine’s life spirals into chaos as she experiences terrifying hallucinations and physical harm. Seeking answers, she visits a fortune teller, Rham Jas, who reveals that she is being tormented by the demon Lamia. To break the curse, Christine must sacrifice something meaningful. Desperate, she offers her pet kitten, but the demon’s wrath only intensifies.
With time running out, Christine turns to San Dena for help. A séance is conducted to trap Lamia in a goat and destroy it, but the ritual goes wrong, leading to further chaos and death. Despite San Dena’s efforts to banish the demon, the curse’s grip tightens on Christine as the countdown to her doom continues.
