Description: Double Feluda is a 2016 Bengali crime thriller detective film based on the iconic character Feluda, created by the legendary Oscar-winning director Satyajit Ray. Directed by his son Sandip Ray, this marks the 19th installment in the Feluda series. The film sees the return of Sabyasachi Chakraborty as Feluda and Saheb Bhattacharya as his loyal sidekick, Topshe. It serves as a sequel to the 2011 film Royal Bengal Rahashya and was released on December 16, 2016, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the beloved character.
The plot of Double Feluda combines two of Satyajit Ray’s Feluda stories: Samaddarer Chabi and Golokdham Rahasya. Initially, Sandip Ray had planned to continue the reboot series with films like Gangtokey Gondogol and Nayan Rahasya. However, due to scheduling conflicts with actor Abir Chatterjee, who was tied to the Byomkesh franchise, and production challenges, the reboot series was discontinued. Instead, Sandip Ray chose to continue the original Feluda series with Double Feluda.
The film is a tribute to Feluda’s legacy and remains a standalone entry in the series, bringing back the classic duo of Sabyasachi Chakraborty and Saheb Bhattacharya. Double Feluda blends mystery, intrigue, and nostalgia, offering fans a fitting homage to the iconic detective’s 50-year journey.
