Description: “Doraemon: Nobita’s Treasure Island” (映画ドラえもん のび太の宝島), also known as Doraemon the Movie 2018, is a Japanese science fiction anime film. It is the 38th installment in the Doraemon film series. The story is inspired by Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic 1883 novel “Treasure Island,” with a screenplay by Genki Kawamura, known for his work on “Your Name” and “The Boy and the Beast.” The film is directed by Kazuaki Imai, marking his first directorial role in the Doraemon franchise.
The plot revolves around Nobita, who dreams of discovering his own treasure island despite Earth being fully mapped. Doraemon provides him with a special map that leads to a mysterious island. Coincidentally, news of an unknown island’s discovery emerges, and Nobita, believing it to be the treasure island, sets off with Doraemon, Shizuka, Gian, and Suneo. However, their adventure takes a dangerous turn when they are attacked by pirates. The island suddenly moves, revealing itself to be part of a massive, advanced ship. The pirates kidnap Shizuka, but Nobita and his friends manage to save a boy named Flock.
Flock reveals that the pirates are time travelers who steal treasures from different eras. He was once part of their crew but deserted after refusing to follow Captain Silver’s orders. Using the treasure map, Doraemon tracks the pirates’ location. Meanwhile, Shizuka meets Sarah, Flock’s sister, who offers her help. Both Flock and Sarah disclose that Captain Silver is their father, who became obsessed with hoarding treasure after their mother’s death. Despite their efforts, Nobita’s group fails to rescue Shizuka and instead saves Sarah, leaving Shizuka in Captain Silver’s clutches.
