Description: Olivia Wilde’s second directorial effort, following her debut *Booksmart*, is a visually stunning film with a retro aesthetic. Set in the idyllic desert town of Victory, the story follows Alice (Florence Pugh) and her husband, Jack (Harry Styles), as they uncover unsettling truths beneath the surface of their seemingly perfect 1950s-inspired life. Their existence is filled with martinis and social gatherings, but Alice soon suspects that the town’s founder, Frank (Chris Pine), and the community itself hide darker secrets.
While the film boasts a striking visual style, with meticulously designed costumes and a vibrant color palette, it struggles with a plot that feels inconsistent and lacks depth. Florence Pugh delivers a powerful performance, carrying much of the film, but Harry Styles’ inexperience as an actor becomes apparent. His portrayal lacks inner complexity, leaving his character feeling superficial.
Despite its flaws, *Don’t Worry Darling* offers a pulpy thriller with feminist undertones and a touch of sci-fi intrigue. However, the film’s reliance on style often overshadows its substance, leaving viewers with a visually appealing yet somewhat hollow experience.
