In Wales, Jessica “Jess” Webb-Thomas, an American sculptor and former drug addict, reconnects with her estranged daughter Chloe. Chloe, who was sent to foster care due to Jess’s past struggles with addiction, is hesitant to rebuild their relationship and declines Jess’s invitation to live with her and her second husband, Ben Thomas. Later that night, Chloe visits a house rumored to be haunted by a witch, accompanied by her friend Danny. Ignoring the legend, they knock twice on the door and leave. Soon after, Danny begins experiencing supernatural phenomena and is mysteriously taken by an unseen force. Frightened, Chloe seeks safety and decides to move in with Jess.
Chloe’s initial resentment toward her mother creates tension in their relationship. Strange events start occurring in the house, including Chloe finding a human molar in her soup. Jess experiences a terrifying nightmare featuring an elderly woman who cries, apologizes in Polish, and slits her own throat. When Jess shares her dream with Chloe, Chloe recognizes the description and tells her about Mary Aminov, a local woman rumored to be a witch. According to the legend, Mary would haunt anyone who knocked twice on her door.
As Jess works on her sculptures, her model Tira becomes uneasy around Chloe and leaves abruptly. Chloe begins to believe she is being targeted by Baba Yaga, a demonic figure from Slavic folklore. Despite their strained relationship, Chloe gradually starts to warm up to Jess. However, the supernatural occurrences escalate when Jess discovers her workshop vandalized with the words “She’s mine” scrawled on the floor.
One night, Jess and Chloe are terrorized by the witch, and the next day, a portal opens, nearly pulling Chloe inside. Jess manages to save her daughter, and they later meet with Tira, who reveals the truth: Mary was never a witch. Her spirit seeks revenge because Chloe spread the false rumor of witchcraft.
